TELEVISION ANIMATION CONFERENCE

If you are in the business of animation, prepare to be in Ottawa on September 20 and 21 for the Television Animation Conference (TAC). Canada's only animation business event returns for its third year, drawing key executives from companies like the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Cartoon Network, Corus Entertainment, Frederator Studios, Galakids, Lucasfilm Animation, Mainframe Entertainment, National Film Board, Nelvana, Nerd Corps, Nickelodeon, TELETOON, Toon Boom and the like for panels, screenings and lots of pitching and networking.

 TECHNOLOGY FORUM
With the introduction of the Technology Forum last year, the OIAF highlighted the best in animation tools. We continue this year with a series of panels and presentations featuring the latest advances in animation software and hardware and their use in feature films, television and video games. Keynote speaker Rob Coleman (Animation Director, Star Wars Episodes 1-3) will be giving a presentation about "the Future of Digital Filmmaking and the Impact of Technology on the Artist".

Leading up to the Festival, expect episodes that highlight this year's special screenings and trailers for the films in this year's official Competition.  Past Festival essays will also be available!

9 Story Entertainment is an award winning animation producer based in Toronto, Canada. Production has started on the third season of their Emmy and Gemini Award winning flagship series, Peep and the Big Wide World (10 x 22 minutes), a co-venture with WGBH Educational Foundation. In production for Teletoon (Canada), ITV (UK) and Nickelodeon (USA) is Skyland (26 x 22 minutes), a winner this year at Cartoons on the Bay. The futuristic 2D/3D animated action adventure series is being produced as a Canada/France co-production with Method Films, and is distributed by Millimages. Also in production: the latest season of Postcards From Buster (10 x 28 minutes) with WGBH, and new episodes of Max & Ruby (14 x 22 minutes), a continuation of a relationship between YTV/Treehouse and Nelvana, both Corus companies.
